The Berkeley County Historical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization,
is sustained by its memberships and donations.  While the recent recession
has reduced local and state support we continue to seek grant funding that
will aide us in continuing our mission.  If you would like to help beyond
your yearly membership, we would be extremely grateful.  To donate using
Pay Pal, please click on the DONATE NOW button above.  The system
will guide you to ensure your contribution arrives safely.

If you prefer not to use the Pay Pal system, we are always happy to have our members visit and see
what we have been working on the continue our mission of preserving, protecting and sharing the
history of Berkeley County.

In May of 2010 the Society established the 45 Club.  The name is based on
the fact that at the time it was begun, there was a $45,000 balance on the
mortgage of the Society's Storage Building.  It was intended that donations
received for the 45 Club would go toward the principal balance of that
loan, thus reducing its duration.  In less than a year we have been able to
reduce the mortgage balance down to $_____ ; due to the generous
donations of our members and community.  The names of donors of
$1,000 or more will be placed on a plaque that will be hung in the building
commemorating their effort.  If you would like to make a contribution to
the 45 Club, via Pay Pal, click on the DONATE button above and follow
directions given there.  Otherwise, please send or bring by your check
payable to BCHS - please make a notation on the check that the donation
    is for the 45 Club.
The Berkeley County Historical Society's primary mission is to preserve and perpetuate the history of
Berkeley County.  Part and parcel with the preservation, we purchased a building completely dedicated
to the storage and cataloging of the holdings of BCHS.  We continue to accept donations of historic
items to the collections as well as negotiating the return to Berkeley of items that have been handed
down through families and donated to other preservation societies outside the region.  A goal in 2011 is
to streamline and bring up to date the donation of items procedure as well as how they are cataloged in
the system.  If you have an item you would like to donate to the Society's collection, please contact us
by phone or email to begin the process.  We look forward to working with you.
Some people feel more comfortable donating items or services rather than money.  For that reason, we
have a wish list of things that we could use some help with at the Society.  You can purchase these
items and bring them to our offices at 136 East Race Street.  A donation receipt will be completed for
you when you drop them off.  The following is our wishlist:
